Dharamshala: The Department of Information and International Relations’ Additional Secretary Tenzin Lekshay, the Spokesperson of Central Tibetan Administration, gave a talk on the Middle-Way Policy at the leadership workshop for Class X students this morning.
In his address, Tenzin Lekshay introduced the nature, evolution, and achievements of the Middle Way Policy to a gathering of 114 participants from 27 Tibetan schools in India and Nepal. He explained the core objective of the MWA as means to peacefully resolve the Sino-Tibet conflict without seeking the separation of Tibet from China nor accepting the present conditions of Tibet under the People’s Republic of China.
“In an effort to resolve the issue of Tibet in a manner that benefits both the parties concerned, it treads a middle path between these two extremes. This is what we call the Middle Way Policy,” he explained.
He also highlighted the Memorandum on Genuine Autonomy for the Tibetan People and Notes on the Memorandum. Furthermore, he implored participating students to read books on the Middle Way Policy to have a deeper understanding of the subject.
In addition, he also spoke about the current situation inside Tibet emphasising the need to highlight the Tibetan cause on a global platform. The leadership workshop is organised by the Department of Education.
